Couple Hugging

The Gottman Method

The Gottman Method of Couples Therapy is based on Dr. John Gottman’s research that began in the 1970’s and continues to this day. The research has focused on what makes relationships succeed or fail. From this research, Drs. John and Julie Gottman have created a method of therapy that emphasizes “nuts-and-bolts” approach to improving clients’ relationships.

Couple counseling techniques based on the Gottman method which includes:

Some couples struggle with SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES which contribute to their situation such as:

For those desiring Christian Couples Counseling we will add the disciplines of faith that pull from biblical teaching.  Including elements such as:

  • Prayer

  • Use of scripture be it either read or referenced

  • Assigned Bible Studies, reading and retreats  (via: Right Now Media, Study Gateway, YouVersion)

  • Explanation on how to integrate Christian truths and values into the marital relationship

For those that are in a Blended Marriage/Remarriage everything will be filtered through the complexities and uniquenesses that come from that situation covering topics such as:

  • Creating a remarriage that will last

  • Exploring the key qualities of happy remarriages

  • Exploring issues of communication, sexuality, and spiritually (if your coming for Christian Counseling) as it pertains to a remarriage

  • Children and parenting: Step Children, The ‘Us’ child

  • Successfully navigating thru the co-parenting relationship

  • Remarriage finances: Yours, Mine, Ours

Intensive Relationship Assessment

For The Busy Couple or the couple eager to get to the work of fixing, healing, changing or growing in their relationship.

Do you have schedules that seem a little crazy?  Is setting aside the time to do the 3 part assessment seem impossible with the demands of life?  Is your relationship in great distress and you desire to get some relief quickly?

If the answer to any of these questions is “Yes”, then an Intensive Relationship Assessment might be right for you. Instead of meeting for 3 separate sessions over the course of a month the therapist will spend 4.5 hours with you over the course of a day. If you are wondering how to fix a relationship in extreme trouble, intensive work is the best way to do it.
